1803 July 2 Letter to William Chandler (3512)

Letter written in pencil on paper. Paper is folded in two. Letter is written on pages 2 and 3 (interior of fold) and addressed on the back. The letter is from Jacob Harris, a soldier, to his uncle. I believe the uncle to be William Chandler.

July the 2d 1803

Dear Uncle (3512),

I take my pen in my hand to let you know that I am well at this present time and I hope when these few lines gets at hand you will be in knowing the same Blessing . And Sarah and mother the same. And all of you must not think hard of me for not writing sooner, for I hant got nothing to write with but a led pencil. And I was working on the forte yesterday and I fell down and strained my ankle so I can’t work today.

And I hope I will get well in a few days so I can run old Morgan again. We had one cout (?) after him and we did not get aholt of the old do of (?) rascal or we would a hung him. But he run too fast for us.

Well I did not get my pay like I thought I would. But I only get the more pay 1 day and I think I will send some to you. Well I told you all of the news. But I like soldering well.
